Transition to Parenthood

Prenatal & Postpartum Therapy

Becoming a parent can be one of the most meaningful—and disorienting—transitions in life. You may find yourself asking, Why does this feel harder than I expected? Why do I feel so overwhelmed, disconnected, or unlike myself? If that resonates, you’re not alone.
Having my own experience with the challenges the transition to parenthood can bring, I felt called to more deeply utilize my specialties in anxiety, depression, and relationship work to support others in this tender phase of life. That experience shaped the way I show up in this work and deepened my commitment to supporting parents during this profoundly transformative time.

The early stages of parenthood often bring a mix of joy, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Postpartum parents may experience depression, intense irritability, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or a sense of loss of self. Couples may struggle with pressure, disconnection, or feeling unsure of how to support their partner while managing their own emotional experience. Relationship dynamics often shift dramatically and can be difficult to navigate. These challenges don't just happen in the early postpartum months, they can stretch through several years and shift with the arrival of another child.

I offer therapy for a variety of parental needs including: individual therapy for birthing and non-birthing parents who are navigating their transition; couples counseling to help you find connection and adjust to new roles; or even working with your extended family or support system to create a more sustainable and supportive environment around you. I value all family types, including LGBTQ+ families, adoptive parents, and those growing their families through surrogacy. However your family is formed, you deserve thoughtful, compassionate support as you find your way in this new chapter.

To make it accessible during this busy phase, therapy can be done in-office, in your home in the Fort Collins area, or via telehealth across Colorado.
